You've been coaching for a few years, can you tell us about your background?

Matteo: After few years as a player, I moved into coaching 7 years ago. I coached for several years young boys and girls teams, I also coached senior team at different level in the area of Bruxelles in Belgium. Last season I was assistant in Belgium first division, and this year I moved to Switzerland as head coach in the 'Women's premiere league, assistant in men's league A, and technical director at Neufchâtel.

Raphael: I started my coaching career in Belgium, where I had the opportunity to work with different teams and gradually develop myself. I moved up step by step, starting with youth teams, then focusing exclusively on women's basketball and joining more ambitious projects. These expériences gave me a solid understanding of the game and helped me shape my coaching philosophy.

This season is your first expérience coaching abroad. How did the preparation go?
Matteo: Quite well. I studied the club, the players, their former coach's methods, and the league. That helped me adapt my vision to their playing style without disrupting too much, while still pushing development.

Raphael: I was really motivated to take this new Challenge In Luxembourg. Preparation went well, though it was a bit short due to some players being on vocation. The club welcomed me warmly, and the players showed great commitment from day one.

How do you see the start of the season?
Matteo: We've had a solid preseason start. For me, it's mainly a chance to really get to know the players so I can prepare them for tougher moment ahead.

Raphael: With a lot of enthusiasm but also caution. Our goal is to be competitive as soon as possible, highlighting our team spirit and style of play.

What are the objectives for this season?
Matteo: My mean goal is to focus on each player's development to strengthen the team as a whole. Our collective strength will come from solid fundamentals individually.

Raphael: The mean goal is to improve game after game. Of course, we want to be competitive, but above all I want the players to grow both individually and collectively.

What the differences between Belgian Basketball and your host country?
Matteo: Swiss basketball is more heterogeneous. It relies more on intensity and fast play than on tactical aspects like spacing or ball movement.

Raphael: In Belgium, the league is perhaps denser and more physical. In Luxembourg, the game is more open and offensive.

How is your adaptation outside of basketball?
Matteo: My adaptation has been great. I was warmly welcomed and the good weather mad it even easier.

Marion: Very Well! Luxembourg is a welcoming country. I m gradually discovering the culture and daily life here. It's still a change but I already feel comfortable.

What is your best local culinary speciality?

Matteo: Honestly, I haven't yet tried a local specialty, but I'm sure I will soon.

Raphael: I enjoy the "bouchées à la reine".
